Lizzardis

Teardrop by Massive Attack

Posted by Lizzardis Sep. 28, 2009 @ 2:07 AM EDT

I just wanted to get rid of that other news post from the front of my profile. So I thought I would make this one.

This song was introduced to me by KrevZabijak. Little did I know sooner or later I would finally find out that it is the intro to the award winning series called 'House'. Yeah....I feel kinda silly now knowing that. Since she DID link me to it while we were watching House....Hmmm. xD

Anyway, I put it up here for you guys to watch or listen to. I think its an awesome song.

Enjoy!

.

Ah yes. Krev requested that I put the José González version up here. This too is brilliant. Apparently Krev said she can play this on the Guitar.....She is still yet to send me a recording! Haha!

Here it is guys ;)

I prefer the piano and guitar riffs. The lead singer, eh, I could do without her, she sounds like she's straining a bit. Just keep the beat and the riffs and it's AWESOME!

Sep. 28, 2009 | 12:50 PM Lizzardis responds:

I quite agree, without the singing it sounds much better. It also sounds at the start like she has been put on some sort of repeat.

I'll try and find that one on youtube somewhere. I think its the orchestral version or something.

The singer is Liz (Elisabeth) Fraser other from the Cocteau Twins. I loved this song way back when Napster was in beta.
You should link to Jose Gonzalez' guitar version of it, as well. Plenty of live performances on Youtube. I've memorized about 9 of his songs so far, wonderful guitarist, and damned good at covers too.

Sep. 30, 2009 | 11:05 AM Lizzardis responds:

Yes I have that one bookmarked too. Thank you, I will add it in now. I too love this song now, I find any time I have at least just to listen to it once. For one it feeds my addiction of house (XD) and it also clears my head.

Oh and thanks for sending me the link to this. ;)

Jose has been added!

Epic song is epic.
Except for that hoe.

Sep. 30, 2009 | 11:10 AM Lizzardis responds:

Meh, I can get used to her. She isn't that bad I guess. I would just like the version without the singing though, just to see how it is and how it appears on House.

House is a fucking awesome show.

I wish I was like Gregory House :(. For one the way he thinks is just amazing, and that limp is cool :P

Oct. 3, 2009 | 10:19 AM Toiletpaper says:

Haha, I saw all house's episodes. Rented them from blockbuster. It made me sad face when the series ran out D:

Oct. 3, 2009 | 11:07 AM Lizzardis responds:

Its not ran out yet! The new series has started over in the US AND the UK! :P

Cant wait until I can get my hands on the new series!

Opinions, opinions.

Oct. 30, 2009 | 9:49 PM KrevZabijak says:

My favourite songs > NickScott's favourite songs

my detachable penis > his non-detachable penis

Oct. 31, 2009 | 1:22 PM Lizzardis responds:

Wow.....Just....Wow. She got you there Nick. XD

Plus....You still need to tell me how to detach my penus so it can be leik urz XD

Nov. 3, 2009 | 5:35 PM Hybrid-Of-Souls says:

It would be nice if the guys put in the full song during a montage. However, having not seen House in a while, I wouldn't know if they did that already.

Nov. 4, 2009 | 3:45 PM Lizzardis responds:

Well if you ever do come across that....Give my profile a see and drop me a link. It would be nice to have that on :)

Nov. 8, 2009 | 10:42 AM InsertFunnyUserName says:

I love that song, and Massive Attack. :D

Nov. 9, 2009 | 11:51 AM Lizzardis responds:

Meh, I mainly just love that song. Only some other songs by Massive Attack are that good :\

Nov. 8, 2009 | 10:56 AM michelinman says:

You couldn't tell that was the House song? I barely even watch house, but as soon as the piano kicked in, it was blatantly obvious. Haha. And krev, can I borrow your detachable penis?

Nov. 9, 2009 | 11:53 AM Lizzardis responds:

Well seen as I had never even heard of Teardrop nor Massive attack....No I couldn't tell. Over here in the UK, we don't really know much of massive attack.

Also, no. That's for her own personal use. Its purple and its also in the shape of a Vixen's genital. I would like her to show me how to detach mine, but she seems to be avoiding the subject.

It's been covered by quite a few artists. If you google "teardrop covers wiki" and have a look at the covers section, you'll see a list. Newton Faulkner was one of the few that actually put it out on an album, I think:

I still prefer the original, but it's always nice to see a different take on a decent track. Speaking of which, Imogen Heap did a cover of "Thriller" on Dermot O'Leary's show a few weeks back. Check it out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxrIBC wyk80

I'd imagine you'd find an mp3 knocking around if you looked for it.

Nov. 16, 2009 | 4:58 PM Lizzardis responds:

Wow! That Newton Faulkner one is very good! I personally think that the soundtrack could be a bit louder, and his voice be a bit dimmer, but it is a very nice version. Quite slower too!

However, that Imogen one....Hmmm. Its a bit strange. Its much much slower, and is very strange actually. It's growing on me though. Which is usually a good sign!

I might have to find that MP3 for each one. Thanks for dropping by liljim. ;)

Nov. 16, 2009 | 5:29 PM liljim says:

The tempo for both is actually around the same, they're just played in different styles...

Nov. 17, 2009 | 1:29 PM Lizzardis responds:

They are?!

Man....That's strange, it sounds like they are completely different in speeds and such.

Thanks for linking me to them though, I really enjoy the Newton one, and that Thriller one is growing on me ;)
